July 23rd, 2024 - Lesson Schedule
Weekly I receive texts and emails from people who are interested in taking lessons with me. Most of you find me through the CBV-Dressage Facebook page or my website.
My current lesson schedule (North Carolina):
Wednesday morning in NEW BERN
Thursday morning in HAMPSTEAD
Thursday evening in JACKSONVILLE
Friday morning in BURGAW
Friday evening in RICHLANDS/JACKSONVILLE
Saturday morning in NEW BERN
If you are located in one of these areas, or you have the possibility to trailer into one of these locations, I should be able to fit you in. Unfortunately I have no other options. I feel very blessed my schedule is busy, but I can't add more locations or other days/times.
If anything changes in this schedule I will update here again.
Thank you all for putting your trust in me and also thank you for new people reaching out to me!
November 7th, 2023 - Silver Medal
Action and I showed at the Autumn Leaves competition in Raeford, NC (Carolina Horse Park). We showed in the Prix St. George and scored a beautiful 64.412% and a 1st place. This was de last score needed towards the Silver Medal!
March 1st, 2023 - Back to work
As of Mach 1st I am picking up work again. My lesson schedule is full, but are you interested in training options for your horse, or a clinic? Don't hesitate to reach out!
January 3rd, 2023 - Our daughter is born
We are overwhelmed with joy by the arrival of our beautiful daughter. Eowyn Rumi Barlow is born on January 3rd, 2023.
July 22nd, 2022 - Baby news!
It is with great excited my husband and I like to share with you we are expecting a baby girl. I am planning on still teaching as much as I can do and for as long as I am comfortable. I will most likely have to take a break from work somewhere around December and January.
July 17th, 2022 - Prix St. George
From July 15th - July 17th Action and I stayed at the Pinehurst Harness Track (NC) to show the weekend. On Saturday we rode a beautiful test in Fourth Level (test 2) and placed 2nd with 66.316%. I was very happy with how Action was sharp and responding to my aids well.
On Sunday it was time for our Prix St. George debut. Action was definitely a little tired, which caused him to be a bit long in his frame. We had beautiful parts in de half passes, extended gaits, pirouettes and the walk. Unfortunately a very big mistake in the series flying changes gave us a bit of a lower score. Still very pleased with a 2nd place and 60.441%
Only one score away from our Silver Medal!
April 16th, 2022 - Show Debut Connla
Connla has been in training with me for 5 months now. He is an OTTB and learned his first steps of dressage with me. He has been trough a major transformation and I felt like he was ready for his first dressage show.
We took him to a schooling show at Equine Country in Jacksonville, NC. This is not too far of a drive and it would be a nice first experience for Connla.
In Training Level Test 2 and 3 we scored 61.03% and 60.69% with a 2nd and 3rd place. He did a fantastic job and I am incredibly proud of him. In my eyes he deserved a way higher score. Maybe next time we will take him to a rated show.
March 26th, 2022 - Fourth Level at March Magic Dressage Show
This morning we went to Williamston to make our first step towards the Silver Medal. Since it had been raining pretty badly in the week prior Action and I missed two training rides. I could feel in our test we missed the effortless look we usually show. Besides that, it was yet another test with no flaws and it was the best we could do at the moment.
In Fourth Level Test 2 we scored 64.211% and a 2nd place.
At this level I feel like riding one test a day is more fair towards Action. These tests are definitely harder for the horses and I think asking for another test would have been too much.
March 17th, 2022 - Officially a Bronze Medalist
I am very proud to announce we have officially been rewarded with the Bronze Medal. Even more proud we only scored results over 70% in all classes needed. With an average of 72% in First, Second and Third Level it is safe to say Action went above and beyond for me yet again.
March 5th, 2022 - 1st Place at Raleigh Winter Dressage
Another successful dressage show in Raleigh. Scoring two 1st places for Action and Christine in Third Level test 1 and test 3. Action was great again and got rewarded with a 70.270% and 73.000%. These were the last scores needed for our Bronze Medal.
For Jasmine Carney and her horse Jetstream it was their first show ever. Ending 1st place in Training level test 1 with a score of over 61%. Great job!
Grateful for the help from our husbands. We wouldn’t be successful without our support system!
November 1st, 2021 - CBV Dressage officially took over stables
It is with great pleasure I can announce CBV Dressage is now officially in charge of the stables located on Blue Creek rd in Jacksonville (NC). Over the past 2 years this has already been home to Action, many clients have trailered in for lessons and I have been teaching many kids how to ride and take care of horses.
Also my main lesson horse Peek a Boo (aka Peek) will stay with me for the rest of his life. This horse has a very special place in my heart and I am beyond grateful he will stay with me.
September 18th, 2021 - Again First Places for Christine and Action!
Another great show day, this time at the Pinehurst Fall Dressage competition in Southern Pines. First place for Christine and Action with 73.095% in Second level test 3 and first place with 74.714% in First level test 2. We also received a ribbon for Highest Score of the day and a Special Recognition ribbon! Action was already settled in better than 2 weeks ago, he really performed great!
Kaela Thomas and her horse Orion shows First level as well. Their first dressage shows ever and they took home 4th place with almost 64%. As a trainer I am incredibly proud of them. On to the next one!
September 5th, 2021 - First Place for Christine Barlow-De Vries and Action Z
After 5 years Action and I went back in de show ring. We took home the 1st place in First Level test Two with 71.286% and another 1st place in Second Level test Three with 70.238%.
Action did amazing, and even more important, it doesn’t seem like he got stressed to the level where he would develop ulcers again! Our management in keeping him has never been better. The goal for now: get the Bronze Medal.
Thank you Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh for the organization!
August 2021 - Welcome to the updated website
Since I have been living in North Carolina now for almost 2 years it was definitely time to update the website. I am incredibly happy and proud what CBV Dressage has grown into already, in just this relatively short period. From training a lot of different horses, to having a lot of great clients who are so loyal to me, to organizing all these exciting events.
Thank you everybody for supporting me. The website is updated with a lot of new pictures taken by my husband over the past 2 years, and also a lot more information about what I’ve been doing lately and what the possibilities are.
Stay tuned because september will bring more exciting news!
July 2021 - Congratulations Willow Chase and Diablo on being Champion for NDCTA
Willow and Diablo visited CBV dressage in June for a training week. Daily lessons with Diablo and a training ride on Action definitely worked out great and they made a lot of progress just within a few days. It payed off when Willow and Diablo competed at the Carolina Horse Park and won first place.
June 2021 - CBV’s First pony camp was a huge succes!
Dressage lessons everyday, pimp your pony, photoshoot, potato race, learning from the theory book, brushing, snacking and ending the week with a dressage show in front of family and friends! A huge shout out to the horses Peek, Miller, Winston, Action and Grey for participating. Next summer we will definitely go for pony camp 2.0!
